Have cart will travel !
Me and my mate decided to give it a bash last night, targeting whiting, squid and flatties shore based, we didn't want to go to far so it was decided to hit up Geelong inner harbor, first stop was the local boat ramp cleaning tables to check out was was cleaned that day, ( gotta do the ground work first )
Ok some good flathead frames, not many whiting frames ? Hmm ? BUT lots of large scales => yes snapper !
We picked a likely small jetty and out go the baits, after a couple of hours we got sick of throwing back under size flatties so we decided on a move
my mate had a spot we could try that has coughed up pinkies in the past so packed up and off we go.
This was comfortable as the car was next to us so no lugging our stuff, in go the baits again and the waiting game begins.
A mixture of pilchards and squid to tempt our quarry.
After a couple of bad hook ups finally a solid hook up ! and the fight begins ! 4 good runs and numerous head shakes... I had a fair idea of what I was hooked up to, in the glow of our headlamps that iridescent pink with blue dots came within netting range !
So in the net the exhausted snapper goes... pics of the night below, so the snapper are still about you just have to put up with the cold...

Good size snapper there, well done  cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Hi Bilby I think is was 61 or 62 cm ? got some great fillets off him tonight.bilby wrote:Fantastic effort, Hornet! What was the length of the snapper?
It was very cold and everything around us was wet from the night air.
Very well lit though from the full moon, almost didn't need the lantern.
