Killarney beach is usually good for a Salmon or two . There are weed beds there and you can fish for squid as well.
Its also a really pretty spot.
The hopkins is full of bream, basic running sinker and prawns should get em.

I always fish for skate when im up there off the breakwall, such prehistoric looking creatures, i love catching em and letting them go . Getting smoked by smooth rays makes life interesting and for a fun filled evening, especially when with non-angling blokes.
There is always more to learn , fish to catch , places to see and friends to make.

Killarney is dog friendly as well. My pup loves the place and if your lucky , you can see the whales basking in close

I've caught crayfish on pilchards off the main breakwall. Also saw my first shark there as well a large 6-7 ft bronzie.
You could try for a gummy at logans beach its a nice deep beach. But beware the swell its brutal sometimes
