Went for a fish last week with some calm weather hoping for a feed of squid. Got there at 8pm and it was packed for a weekday, got a small spot half way down the pier and launched out couple 8 ft rods rigged with double drop and size 1 octopus gamas on 15 LB leader and a 3oz snapper sinker. Bait of choice was frozen squid from the servo and some old pilchards. It was pretty much a bite within 10 mins of setting up, didn't even get to set up my second rod before the first fish went in the esky, a healthy 35cm whiting on squid strip's. Rebaited and launched it back out, before I could put the rod down and tighten slack, I felt a hit and solid little head shakes, few minutes in and a nice 38cm pinkie was in the esky. Second rod only just been baited and not even in yet, then finaly both rods went in and kid you not, both went off within 15 minutes of soaking bait, both had double headers and all 4 fish landed successfully, 3 whiting and a nice 35cm pinkie. It was not long before I had bagged out on pinkie 2 of which went 43cm - 46cm and I bagged out on whiting too one of which went 47cm. At this point I've ditched the bait fishing and moved onto some squid action, right on high tide I found my bag of squid in a nice pod having witnessed up to 8 squid going for my white 3.0 jig at the same time, I then switched to plastic where I managed to land a nice trevaly and few makerels, dropping few big pikes along the way. Gave some pinkies and squid to few other fishos that wearnt so lucky and called it a day. All in all a great bit of fun and got some fresh fish to feed the family. Cheers for reading
