Before we went last time my mate bought a new one from BCF. It turned out to be a beauty.
I have speared flounders all year round. It's not just a summer thing, although it's much more comfortable wading in water on warm summer nights, compared to a cold winter night.
I have had best results leading up to a new moon and on nights that are dark, worst results on a clear night around a full moon.
Obviously a very calm night :P

Best spots for spearing would be (Werribee South boat ramp to cambells cove huts) and even better is ((kirks point to point Wilson)) I have speared a lot in those areas a long long time ago but just not in to it anymore prefer the fight on the rod. But definitely the place to be if anyone is intrested in spearing!

Lightningx wrote:Was a bit windy during the day but when I checked the wind speed for later in the night I saw it was rapidly dropping so decided to go for flounder once again.
When we arrived at our spot, conditions couldn't have been any better. It was perfect actually, with very clear water and no wind at all.
Missed a few stonker flatties but still ended up with a good feed.
For the first time in awhile, I noticed there were more flatties around than flounders.
Ended up being a fun night.
Cheers.
Good work champ! Would've been a nice warm night to do it
