Cunningham Pier Geelong

Post by fishhead » Mon Jun 20, 2011 10:44 am

Went for a drive to Cunningham Pier Geelong Saturday arvo around 3.30pm for scenery. Saw many anglers there so got out my rods. No bite or nibble for 1 hr & people were packing up and left. Finally got a small flathead (30cm). Threw it back and went home at 5.00pm. Well I got my scenery, Geelong water front is beautiful at sunset.
A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work.

If you want to get more fish do not fish cunningham. There are much better spots that will produce pinkies, flatties and whiting less than 200m away. :D

Friends were boasting they caught a few Warehous at the pier the other week, so I went there to investigate (& for the scenery). Only had my line in the water for 1.5 hrs while waiting for the sunset.
If you can suggest a good L/b location for breams? much appreciated.

Hey mate, I don't really fish for bream around there so sorry I can't help you.
About the warehous, I have also heard of a few being caught from cunningham. If you want to catch them chicken on a small paternoster is probably your best bet.

Cheers :)

Thanks for the tips Shazdoggg & TrevKing,
When is the best time to catch Warehous, day or night? high or low tide?

Never caught them, but go as much as possible if you insist on fishing that area. They are there some days, and not there other days. It's all a matter of luck, and you have to put in hours to get good results. Don't just go a couple of times then give up because you don't get a bite, keep persisting and eventually one of your trips will be successful. Like I said, if you go fishing for 6 hours straight one day you may not get a bite. But if you go fishing for 1 hour you may catch a fish. You never know, just keep on trying until you get rewarded.
