Geelong waterfront this morning

Post by ian_underthesea » Wed Dec 18, 2013 5:38 am

I thought it would be worth waking up early this morning for a fish along the waterfront, so set the alarm for 4.15.

I had a Squidgy wriggler in the water by 4.30 and managed to hook a little flathead soon after (sorry, no pic as still dark). He went back in.

Was ready to go by 6am and decided on 'just one last cast'

Well done Ian it's almost always one more cast :fishing:

What species of flathead is that? He's a beautiful specimen, that top photo with his fins all flared up is great!

I think it's a rock flathead but would be happy to be corrected. He is a boy and went back, much to the confusion of the old guys setting up on the jetty next to where he hit the SP. Cheers for the complement

hahaha nice work Ian.

You do realise now, the folks who have read your post, will on average of an extra 1hr, trying to get that "last cast" fish!

Good work on the FH. I bet the old guys were confused and thought you were mad!

Thanks for pointing out that Jessescibo. I'll have to head back down and catch another one now to have closer look for the blue spots! :a_goodjob:

Next picture, I'll try and get a close up on the blue spots too, now that I know they're there.

This one has very clear blue spots, caught 2 today after work on the water front. First one I didn't photograph and also caught whatever is below on a 2" Zman grub in motor oil colour and a 1/20oz size 4 tt jighead. Really starting to love that combo
