Little bit of info.
Hey guys new to this forum.
I’m from down In the southwest and do a lot of fishing.
I am looking at coming down to the Portarlington, St Leonard’s area to do bit of squid and whiting fishing.
Not looking for marks off people just want a honest report of how the fishing has been. In past couple weeks.
Any info will greatly appreciated and a report will follow each trip.
I am also happy to provide any info from my local area that can help a fellow fisherman get bent.
Cheers lads :water:

Re: Little bit of info.
Welcome to the forum Sam,
The squid have been going gangbusters all winter with bag limit catches around Grassy point off indented heads coming in very quickly.anywhere in 2 to 3 metres with broken ground (easily visible) will hold squid. My go to jig is the harimitsu AR in a size 3 but most jigs with a brown or red foil will do well.
Good luck and hope you get onto a few

Hi Sam. You're not wrong when it comes to the wind ruling at the moment. At least around the area you're looking you have multiple options depending on wind direction. We were out Friday targeting Squid/Whiting at Clifton Springs with limited success in the wind. Moved around the corner to St Leonards and had immediate success just a few hundred meters from the ramp. Got our bag of squid in an hour and still made it home with enough time to clean/wash the boat in the sunlight. Bring on the snapper season!
