I had a small window of opportunity today but I still can't get on the water before 6 launched at point Richards around 630. As I motored out I could see lots of boats in the steam packet chanel and another big clump of boats on the spoil ground knowing its to late to pick up snapper I decided to target flathead. I headed to a spot near arther the great I have done ok there before.
I got the baits in the water within 2 minutes one rod took off 55cm flattie ripper I thought then the other rod took off 47cm I had found a purple patch the flatties kept coming I ended up with around 9 the smallest 30cm. Then all hell broke loose one rod took off the reel screaming only one thing could pull so fast eagle ray, I like catching them they are fast jump good fun.
I was back at the ramp at 930 needed to wash the boat as I am on shift tomorrow and all christmas.
