St Leonard’s 11/3/19

Post by Ekaz3556 » Mon Mar 11, 2019 7:12 pm

Arrived here for a couple of days R&R
Put in about 2:30pm and headed to the green stick, lots of little hits just could not hook up with the circle hooks. Oh except for a Kamakazee bay trout who had enough of living. I had a lazy squid jig out while playing hook the pinkie, and loosing. Time to change tack and check the squid rod, jig was covered in weed. I cleaned it and tossed it back, mucking around trying to get it in the rod holder and felt weight, damm weed again, bugger to heavy I have the bottom. Oh wait the bottom does not move if you are anchored, Denis taught me that, and I start winding and I land a lovely squid, 25 cam hood. Reset rod and exactly the same things happens again with another great squid in the boat. Let’s not talk about ink and slim.
The other road buckles and stays buckled, I got me a banjo :) time to move.
I head out deep and the pickies are in plague numbers, I have changed to a long shank hook, thanks to the banjo, and hooking up easily but all 12 cm pinkies, I cant keep a bait in the water, still better than no action.
Not bad for their first day of the break, let see what tomorrow brings
