Was lucky enough to be standing out the front of Denis’s place at 5:00am today (I just happened to be waking past with a rod in hand), and I gave Denis my best puppy dog eyes look and he felt sorry for me and invited me out in his boat. We were on the water by 5:20 and headed off to his secret spot. After removing the blindfold I baited up and bait was in the water by 5:30.
Denis had the first whiting in the boat by 5:40 and proceeded to lift them in with amazing regularity. Big fat buggers. Even I managed to land a few. Denis released one because he said it was just too uncomfortable to get his hand around it to unhook it. It was easier to let it go and try and get a skinnier one. Over 40 minutes we landed 10 great whiting.
Moved a few times to find some more but we just could not find them. The tide had gone slack , much like our lines so we decided to end the session.
Back home by 8:30 just in time for breakfast, what a great way to start the day. Thanks Denis what a great skipper, and host.
Looking forward to the next session
