Clifton Springs Kayak Sunday 3 Morning

Post by Andrews » Fri Dec 01, 2023 12:46 pm

Posting this for anyone in the neighbourhood and wanting to get together and fish Clifton Springs on the kayak,

I'm planning for Sunday 3 December, lauching at the boat ramp in the morning.
Weather is looking at 21C, light winds increasing by 11am. High tide at 8.30am.

Been a few squid, flathead and pinkies in the shallows on sunny days / run in.

Will delete and replace with an updated post afterwards, cheers

Would love to join mate, but I'll be running 10km in a running charity event.
I'm overdue for kayak fishing there.
Next good weather on a weekend (south wind, high tide), I'll be going there on the yak for sure.

I’ll have to give this one a miss, I’ve got plans already. Post again when your next outing is and hopefully I’ll catch you on the water. Good luck tomorrow, with some surface disturbance from the wind, high tide and cloudy conditions around 8am it should be good time for squid :tu:

No stress mate!
Seeing how the conditons are as they keep bumping up the wind speeds on the forecast,

Cheers!

Didn't actually get much and the conditons were more average than predicted!

Predicted 9km winds the day before, arrived to 22km with 28km gusts,

Fished shallow 1-2m, three smaller squid and then one undersized pinkie on plastics,

Gusts peaked to 30km and were pretty chillly, quite a few people went in early with myself as I turned average. Fished maybe 1 hour 45.

Sun came out and winds dropped around mid-day as I was hosing down the kayak. haha!

I would have liked to link up with you but i'm on the otherside of the bay, and i had planned to go to Philip Island. I woke up at 3.40am,loaded the kayak, and was on the road at 4.05am full of excitement for what may lie ahead and yeah when i got there i was like damn the wind is a bit stronger than i had hoped..still, i went out, fished for about 1.5 hrs got a few whiting, then the wind picked up to about 20km i reckon which made fishing annoying as i have my anchor trolley on the left side, and wind blowing right to left had my anchor rope running underneath and across the kayak.I focused on whiting and then when i decided to go for squid it was just too rough so i packed it in after about 3-4 hrs...still had fun though, caught a salmon and it jumped out of the water like a marlin a couple of times hahah
