Clifton Springs Kayak Sunday 17 & Dredging

Post by Andrews » Thu Dec 14, 2023 6:32 pm

Shooting this message for anyone keen for a kayak,

Heading out off Clifton Springs 8am to catch the high run out tide with light W winds.
Drifting for squid, flathead, etc.

Also, they're starting dredging soon!

Wish they would dredge the mouth's of the Mitchell Nicholson and the Tambo.

But I can't see it happening as we still don't have a fish cleaning table on the busiest ramp in town.

I’ll most likely join you if the forecast doesn’t blow up, probably launching before first light from the beach on Geelong side of the ramp. I’ll target squid, then when the tide starts running try for whiting. I’ll post on this thread closer to the day

I'd join if its S wind. I sold my Slayer 10 propel kayak, and now I'm using hand paddle viking kayak. I gotta pick the right wind, otherwise I'd be too tired to paddle back. I've got skinny arms.

Hi all, I’ll be launching fairly early, fishing the area in front of the beach first. I’ll be solo, in a grey PA, if you see me feel free to say gday

Not having peddles definitely changes the way you fish, I do enjoy fishing from a paddle yak from time to time though. The wind is forecast to be pretty good direction and speed for drifting parallel to the shore along the weed beds, though it is a long way for you to drive if the wind picks up beyond the forecast.

Nice to meet you briefly today Andrews. How did you boys go? With your squid skills no doubt you did better than me. I was buggered from trawling in the chop for a while. Hopefully the wind held out for you both.

Hey Tim,
It was great to brief meet you too!
I'd love to say we bagged out, but between the two of us we didn't snag a single squid. Neither did the two other blokes nearby!
Though the weather turned out stunning, the bite didn't!
