Yarrambat Lake is fairly close by, yet I have never bothered to fish there. From what I have read like many lakes it is stocked on the school holidays with trout. I also heard that it is often over fished at this time and as such the trout levels diminish rapidly.
Having a look online I can't figure out what day the lake is stocked, does anyone have any idea which date it is done or if it is already done? All the info I can find just says it is stocked on the holidays but not any specific date. Thinking about heading down for a fish, but not much point going before it is stocked...

The Northern Suburbs Fly Fishing Club normally over see it. Maybe give them a call 9718 1138 or send them an email.

Re: School holiday trout stocking
That place gets too much fishing pressure around the school holiday time.
The banks a littered with rubbish and people take advantage of the stocked fish.
A few years back i witnessed a guy take 9 small trout home in a bucket so i got his rego & reported him to fisheries.
I myself have only ever caught one small rainbow trout on some red powerbait during a morning session.
I would only recommend fishing there in the early morning before the place gets over crowded.
