Surface Redfin

Post by Whiskers » Mon May 01, 2017 9:35 pm

Had a good little session on the redfin yesterday morning.

The reddies were chasing small fry in a freshly flooded shallow corner of a local lake. There was only a couple of feet of water and the fry were scattering everywhere.

Because of the shallow water i rigged up a small popper. The reddies were slamming it on the surface, often coming out of the water at times.

There were no big fish, most were about 20cm or just a bit less but a whole heap of fun!

Sounds like a fun sesh! Surface fishing is great fun. Have caught trout on poppers too at certain places at certain times. Very exciting stuff I reckon!
