Carp in the Malmsbury

Post by TheNix » Sat Nov 25, 2017 9:28 am

I've been fishing the Malmsbury a few times over the last month or so and, although generally not as big as last year, there has been some good carp fishing to be had. Below is just four of the dozen or so I caught on my first two trips.

I went again a few days ago and, even though the total catch was well down, this made up for it. I didn't have a measure but my guess is that it was at least 65cm!!

Sorry, for the quality of the pix; I'm a Luddite and still use an old flip phone!!!

Be careful, you might upset CC if you catch too many

There seems to be enough carp at the Malmsbury for all to share. Being serious for a minute, the Malmsbury use to be a solid trout fishing spot, but it is difficult to get past the carp and the roach now.

Got another monster carp at Malmsbury on the weekend (I finally figured out how I got the last pix of the phone) and this one was bigger than the last. I got a 75cm measure from the fishing shop and the carp matched it for size.

Great stuff on the carp but it is sad to see this once great trout fishery now full of carp, there used to be some big tench in there, I wonder if there still is?
