few photos and a few questions
few photos and a few questions
Hey guys, few photos of a few trout from three different streams in Victoria. All caught on little meps spinners
Just getting back into trout fishing, picked up a Diawa pinster II (to replace my shiano travel rod which got broken), thinking I might also replace my diawa cross fire as well. What reel would you pick up if you had $100-200 budget. Or am I better buying something worth a bit more? And what line would you use? mono or braid? what brand? Mainly fishing small rivers (like the Latrobe)

great pic,s the daiwa is a nice light rod so i would match it up to a shimano ci4 reel , nice and light and you should pick them up for $200

Some nice pics 20-20!
Like dazz said I’d go the ci4 as well. I got a couple of them. Great reels

Re: few photos and a few questions
For trouts in small rivers like Latrobe, I'd use 2000 with 6lb braid. Or even to 1000, or shallow spool 2001. You dont need much line for that kind of fishing since you're not casting far and the fish wont swim 150 metres either.

Re: few photos and a few questions
Sorry but the photos didn't come up on my computer for some reason.. as for the reel,,
A nice trout reel is the Okuma Helios SX20 spin reel, retails from around $140 I think, I used one on and off throughout the last trout season and found it to be a nice light weight free running reel to use,, never had a problem with it.. This reel is set up to a Okuma Celilo ULS 6'6'' 1-3kg trout rod.
Another good one is the Daiwa Revros 2004H is a nice light weight reel for trout fishing, I have four of them that get a regular workout in the rivers here in Tassie.. Have had them for over two trout seasons and never had a problem, good thing is they're not expensive & only hold 98 mtrs ( the ones I have do any way, so does the one on ebay) of 4 lb mono so you get three lots of refills on the reel out of a 300 mtr spool of line. Platypus Super 100 fine 4 lb mono works very well on any spinning reel too..

Re: few photos and a few questions
yep nice and light versatile reel and if you decide to fish salt water etc they have a very good drag system so can catch and stop bigger fish
