Albert Park Sesh
Hey all
Last week I was sussing the weather, and today looked pretty conducive for some nice trout fishing at albert park, so I thought i'd sneak down for a couple hours. It's been a while since I headed to albert park and today's session was more of a suss to see if the fish were biting or not.
Fished from about 4:30 till 7:00pm, running a shakespeare wild series 2-4kg 7ft rod with a rovex propower 2000 reel spooled with 8lb braid. Fished with some little hardbodies like I usually do.
Fishing was slow to start with. Moved around quite a bit trying to find gaps in the weed. Stopped at one of my go-to locations and first cast in a horse of a yellowbelly decided to jump of out the water about 5m from the shore. Next cast was straight towards him, he had a big swipe but missed it and vanished unfortunately. Stuck around that spot and grabbed 3 nice trout all around 30cm+, hooked two more, one spat the hook just as I was about to net him, and another much bigger fish hit my lure super hard, jumped out of the water then peeled off a heap of drag and was gone. Had me spewing but oh well.
Nice to end the donut streak, still yet to catch a yella and albert park, hoping some might start biting in the warmer weather
cheers

I'd concentrate your efforts along the bank between the carousel cafe and the point restaurant, never caught a fish elsewhere on the lake but have seen a few. Yeah cheers - ive only fished it 3 times, all blanks. Most was figuring out how to avoid the weed. Got some shallow running hbs now, so hopefully will crack some success twitching and stripping them over the weed beds.

Re: Albert Park Sesh
Nice session. Noted on the point and carousel.
I've caught some around the southern end.
How was the water level? must be good now. Autumn and close to events such as F1 is bad, as they use the water for the events, lowering the level, thus the weed.
With 'full' level, there's enough 'body' between the weed and the surface, probably about 30cm. Hence, the shallow dive hardbody is great, to swim just above the weed. The fish often come out of the weed.
Spinnerbait works well for yellowbelly too btw.
