Top 10 Carp fishing spots round Melbourne

Post by ChrisD » Wed Apr 24, 2013 8:01 am

So and open ended question - I know, but where do people think the top 10 carp fishing spots around Melbourne are?
Lilydale lake used to be one, but since they drained it, it seems to be cleaner. And the Yarra through Wonga park seems to likewise be light on at the moment.
I'm sure there are plenty of spots left, but where does everyone think the big monsters are still lurcking.....and which areas need a good hit to help thin out their ranks a bit?

Ringwood lake - a muddy, murky pond - if anything is alive in there, even carp, I'd be amazed.
Gave it three attempts a year or so back and not even a sniff of a bite.
Yes last I checked Blackburn lake was off limits to fishing.
The other three present a chance, but would they be in the top 10 locations?
Let's see what other suggest.

Not saying I don't believe the responses, just weighing up where they would fit on a Top 10 list

the dandenong creek at or near the water sports complex just above patto
I've haven't caught carp there ( as I dont target them as a rule ) but the coarse fishing clubs seem to play there on and off
I'd be surprised if there weren't red fin there as well

I'm always willing to stand corrected, maybe my carp fishing skills are well below par, and Ringwood lake is worth a crack. Might have to try in again in the next few days.

There was a place in ringwood called Mcalpine Reserve which had a lot of carp up to about 4-5kg and also silver perch I havent been in a while but it was definetely a good spot :D
The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad
