Bellarine today

Post by bowl » Tue Jul 08, 2014 5:37 pm

So with a day to myself I decided to hit swan bay first up today n hoping it would not be to windy...got to swan bay pier around 10.30,threw a chunk of couta on one line and burlyed for gars on another rod.not long after setting up a local guy came n had a chat n said been hardly any gars for a while, so after 30 mins decided to move.
Second spot was queens cliff pier(first time fishing for me)thew a big bait out and also jiged for squid, gave it a hour and with no one else fishing the pier decided to move. :cold:
Last stop was Barwon heads ramp (ocean grove side of river) first time I had fished the ramp and manged a few mullet and couple of sand crab that I threw back, found out later they can be used for gummy bait Bangg

Hey Bowl, I'd be chuckin them out live and as fresh fillets right in the area you caught them. Just my thoughts but if i lived anywhere near the Barwon I'd be persisting there till the cows come home. Cheers mate.

Yeah i live about a hour away ,so not to far...
I NEED to practice learn how to live rig the mullet.
After tax time will have the coin to finish off lights for my boat.
so plan will be to catch some mullet before dusk and then fish in boat for a mulloway.
i will be putting a thread up in the future for anyone who wants to join for barwon night session.
