Just thought I'd share a report me n my old man managed yesterday.
Headed out from Barwon heads yesterday morning water was flat as a tack and fog was thick.
Anchored on a drop off where the water dropped from 35 to 42 meters.
Started catching little reef fish but persisted and got a nice leather jacket.
Put a smaller hook on trying to get some more letheries with a bit of pipi dropped it to the bottom and straight away the old man was into something decent with a bit of weight.
On 9lb line took him 7 mins to get up and to our surprise was a beautiful snapper which weighed a tad over 3.5 kgs.
We were happy with whatever came our way after that and after 2 more shifts we managed the following...
1 gummy at 137cm
2 gurnard (didn't measure not worth the pain of being spiked)
2 calamari 39 and 47 cm hoods
1 flattie 43 cm
1 salamon 39cm
1 sergeant baker
1 mackeral (pan size)
A heap of yakkas
And to top it all off caught one of them big ocean seagulls after he went for my bait and got tangled.
All in all a top day on the water.
Happy fishing fellas
Great day out from Barwon heads.
