Friday evening trip

Post by kev_b » Sat Sep 13, 2014 10:44 am

I had been working near Anglesea friday afternoon
So i had packed my surf gear going to take advantage of an early start to an evening fishing. I was on the main Anglesea beach by 4pm. All I was getting was loads of little pickers. So down sized my rig to whiting sized rigs. Then started hooking into little salmon. Kept one oversize for bait later. None bigger than 27cm. As the tide dropped the fish went off the bite.
Around 6ish I decided to move further along the beach to try a different spot. Set up in my new place. First cast with my lighter rod and stsrted pulling in weed... so set up my heavier rod with a pulley rig.
It hadn't been in 5 minutes when bang! The tip went over and started to peel line. I set the hook, and started to wind in. I started to get a couple of runs. Then saw the fish in the surf, expecting a salmon. Was very surprised to see what I had hooked into. Had to check the book after a couple of snaps and successful release..
