Painkalac Creek - Aireys Inlet

Post by poppy62 » Fri May 10, 2013 1:15 pm

Tried the Painkalac Creek yesterday for couple hours from the landing on Bambra Rd. Not a great deal of action but did land a couple of Bream (24 & 26 cm) Salmon (fat 26cm) and Mullet (just on 30cm) on peeled prawn & pippi.
Nice surrounds.

Has anyone got any tips on where and gear?
Might be heading there for a weekend soon, any info appreciated.

Hey Plas-flicker you would be better off fishing the Angelsea river, Painkalac is not the best place for a fish unless the mouth is open to the sea and there is a bit of tidal movement.

I know Angelsea river is a good place to flick a few plastics but not so sure about Painkalac you could even try the river at Lorne its also a good place for plastic flicking

The Erskine river in Lorne was closed at the entrance last week but did see some decent Bream lurking around the suspension bridge near the mouth (bridge works being done to it at moment).
Anglesea River swarming with palm sized Bream upstream. Give around Great Ocean Rd Bridge a try
Painkalac Crk looks nice, did reasonable where i was up Bambra rd/river rd
