Barwon Heads - Sheepwash 19th May, mullet, salmon and pics

Post by ian_underthesea » Mon May 20, 2013 8:51 pm

Fished Sheepwash on Sunday for the first time from the end of the run out tide until the turn of the tide with blue bait and prawns.

I caught a mullet and under-size salmon while the tide was still running out and had lots of little bites but no more fish. I lost four rigs to the bottom but enjoyed the trip as the wind died in the afternoon and the clouds were cool reflecting off the water.

The pictures I took were the highlight.

Cheers,

Ian

Great pics mate, pity they only came up as about a square inch each, but they still look great

Nice pics. Give it a go on the little jetty with about an hour before and after high tide. The little one upstream from the bridge. Used to have some good catches there. That's if its still there that is! I haven't been there in nearly 20 years though and a lot changes. Was a good spot though!

Was there about 2 weeks back. Pilchard cubes and cala were the best baits catching trevally and mullet.

Was there less than 6 months ago and the little jetty/boathouse etc are still there. Great spots and yep agree on the tidal times too.

I would be inclined to put a big bait out too and just let it sit there, i got worded up by a local that some big stuff comes through there from time to time.

Thanks Linc. Not sure why but at least there's no issue with them being too big to post, looking on the bright side.

I cut the mullet into fillets hoping for Mr mulloway to visit to no avail but I'll give it a few more tries as it's such a pleasant place to be.
