Anyone knows how barwon heads is fishing today?

Post by Foofoo » Fri Nov 15, 2013 5:35 pm

Hi everyone, I went down to barwon heads on Wednesday and it was very murky and didn't manage to catch a thing :( my dad is in town and he wants to go fishing. I was wondering if anyone went down today and how is it fishing? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I assume you're talking about the river?
Make sure you start fishing around low tide, the first 2 hours of the incoming tide are the best.
The clean water from the ocean comes in and the fish start biting.
Low tide is usually a bit after what it says on the website (4:18PM today), especially when its been raining - so if you want to go, now would be the best time!!!!

The bigger species have been quiet in there lately, or so I've heard. Didn't get any there last Sunday, only a lot of mullet, some salmon and heaps of toadies.

Thanks trevking. Yup I should have specified that I usually fish on the jetty at the boat ramp. I usually go at low tide because I walk in sometimes. If the fish are still biting then I'll go try my luck in the morning tmr around 9am. Cheers!

High tide at Sheepwash, for instance, is about 1.5-2 hours late to the tide at the bridge. Handy to keep in mind.
I haven't been that way lately, but was planning on going to stock up on some mullet for bait...unless they're not there at the moment..??

I was at the boat ramp today from around 11am to about 2pm. The tide was coming in and it was awesome! Lots of mullet around and trevally too. Saw a guy pull up a trevally that was about 35+cm and lost another when his hook broke! Thanks for the advice trev, it was truly a nice day :)

I forgot about this thread, but haven't been able to get out anyway. Will try probably tomorrow morning for some mullet, as I haven't been able to get any locally. Thanks Trav.
