Barwon Heads River - Ozone Jetty Report 09/02/14

Post by Injekti0n » Mon Feb 10, 2014 2:50 pm

The weather was not as hot as expected which was nice but the wind was blowing quite hard. Their was no others on the jetty so it was only me and a few friends fishing. We started around noon and left around an hour after sunset. Their are currently heaps of tommy rough during the day as well as mullet. A few flatheads were caught aswell as KG Whiting. Later on towards sunset and the incoming high tide the trevally's began to bite. Many were caught of decent size. This was my first time here but prooved to be a very productive jetty. Just make sure you don't go on a windy day because you will also have to deal with sea weed and snags aswell as poor bite indication when the wind is blowing. - Haz

Pipis are my go to bait in the Barwon. However, you do get a lot of pickers such as mini salmon and toadies.
So if you want trevally, you might want to try squid, pilchards, chicken or even some plastics if you like fishing lures.

Oh thanks for reminding me guys, I was using chicken breast and pilchard fillets especially for the trevally.

Hey guys. I've fished the Sheepwash on the Barwon a number of times with varying success. I mainly get trevally and salmon there. Just wanting to know how to get to Ozone Jetty. Any help appreciated. Still new to fishing and loving it.

At the end of Ozone Road, just upstream from the bridge. Google Maps will show the jetty pretty easily.

I'm looking at heading way after work tomorrow. Tide wont be ideal but still a good excuse to wet a line. I'd love a bucket of whiting!
