Just spent a couple of days at Anglesea but we refused to fish in the river due to the well known pollution problem as mentioned by a few forum members above .. A local told me that the river is being dredged every so often ... probably to get rid of the toxic sill sitting at the bottom of the river so we were glad to give Anglesea River a miss any day
So we decided fish at Aireys Inlet ... Had three sessions there ... one session just after the high tide and it was good with 4 breams in the 30's ... one morning session just before the high tide but with no success ... and one night session before low tide which only returned lot of smaller ones that lived to fight another day .. Love the place - peaceful surrounding with no idiots to fighting for your place or tangle your lines like on Melbourne piers!!!
Oh nearly forgot ... baits were sandworms we have collected in Melbourne.
Cheers

Sounds fun! were you fishing the beach or the river/inlet (beachside of Great Ocean Road)?
