Quick Barwon sesh

Post by DougieK » Sat Apr 26, 2014 7:09 pm

Hit the Barwon this evening from 2 until dark. Not a touch on the lures. Picked up a trevally, half a dozen undersized salmon and 20 odd mullet on chicken and tuna oil. Burley worked a treat and now have fresh baits for tomorrow morning!

Few options Raul, probably hanging off the end of Portarlington breakwall looking for snapper, or if we're going strong for the low tide tonight we might go back to the barwon for mulloway,.

Apparently it's been packed this weekend, especially at sheepwash. I've seen reports on facebook of people doing well on the jewies so I'm guessing thats the reason.

Where on the river did you get the trev/mullet/salmon, if you don't mind me asking?

T shaped Jetty 100 metres to the west of the boat ramp. Tuna oil soaked chicken fillet, running sinker, tiny circle hooks. Burley was tuna oil and breadcrumbs, worked a treat.

Cool, I've never fished that part.
I usually fish near the base of the bridge on the Ocean Grove side, just off the sand. Mullet, salmon and whiting are the main catches.
