lorne
lorne
Hi all. I'm sure most people here know where Lorne is, and how well or not it fishes. Not sure if anyone has asked this question, I apologise if its a stupid question, but I was just wandering as to whether the beach beside the surf club, or in front of the Cumberland resort, is fishable at night for larger species of fish? Or can you not fish there?
Cheers..

Re: lorne
Hey Raco, id be keen to hear peoples experiences too. I stayed at the Cumberland last year, great spot to spend a few days over winter. I never fished the beach, just the pier, but I reckon the beach there looks pretty fishy. Will have to get down their again and have a crack, but ive booked torquay this year instead.

Re: lorne
I know this doesn't directly answer your question but I regularly fish clear water of the surf after the pier (before Apollo Bay). Pretty close to the Cumberland. Deep Water is easily accessible of several surf beaches and rock platforms. Even smaller gear does the job during high tide. The largest I've caught there is a Salmon about 3kg. Have also seen some decent fish caught..
& if by big species you mean sharks, then you can use my salmon as bait! hehe

Re: lorne
Offtopic again Raco but the Cumberland is meant to be a decent trout stream if you want to mix it up.

Re: lorne
Raco are you talking about cumberland river which is past Lorne or the cumberland resort in lorne before the pier? I have been down at wild dog beach further down at apollo bay and everyone had to get out of the water due to some large sharks in the water.

Re: lorne
You can catch gummies off the pier at lorne so I reckon you would be able to catch stuff off the beach. Probably also depends on the time of the year if it is party / schoolies time you probably will have plenty of people in the water till late.
