Re: No luck at gunnas
The trick is to cover the whole beach. We normally start at the second carpark, and, depending on the time of year, start prospecting. This time of year, the salmon are predominantly towards the carpark end of the beach, midwinter, we would normally concentrate on the top end. Of course, this is a general rule, on any given day they can be anywhere, or not there at all..as regards the weed, we've had big southerlies of late, so not surprising really, try further up the beach tends not to get so heavily inundated with it.skuxliss wrote:Hey Carl, was using metal lures. Lost one got caught in the weeds lol
Concentrate down the sides of the rips and washes, look at the water, see what it's doing, if there are baitfish, where will they get pushed? ..you'll get them in the middle of gutters from time to time, but anyone who tells you thats where they always are, are talking out of there arses quite frankly..and I keep reading articles from people who repeat the same old drivel..edges, washes, areas with movement and structure are the prime spots. On calm days look for the washes, salmon love hiding under them, again, not what you'll read in magazines, but that's where you'll find them regardless..
Any questions, pm me, no worries..
