So, when is the best time to fish gunners? I was using lures also, there was a few large salmon schools but they where not working casting distance.
PB- Snapper 55cm, Whiting 38cm, Flathead 55cm, Bream 38cm, Australian Salmon 55cm, Carp 80cm

Top of the tide or anytime when it is blowing Northerly. You can also fish the low tide but you have limited areas to fish and if the fish are not close enough, you have to work hard for a single fish. During high tide, you can easily catch fish close to the wash. During low tide you need to cast farther out.

Ok thanks I was using an asari pearl Mahi mahi 18gram. I could get good distance on it but is this too small? I'm using a 8'9 lure rod. 1-4 kg

All three of us were using the gillies silver baitfish 40 gram lure today with different configurations.

What was the line lbs?
