sneaky morning session.

Post by CarlG » Mon Dec 16, 2013 10:38 am

Fished the gunn this morning with DougieK..wind ended up rather bizarrely being nor easter as opposed to the predicted southerly/south westerly..
Still a bit too much chop on the water for spinning I think, saw one decent fish that fell to a bait fisho, zilcho for me and the Doug though...Not to worry, was still good to have a wander along the beach in good company..
Couple of usual issues with new braid..knot slipping and a couple of wind knots, but apart from that, (and snapping another rod lol), all good.
The new reel seems pretty good, the no bail arm thing is not a problem, pretty much got the hang already, and casting with it is a piece of pi55..so happy on that count.
See how the swell progresses through the week, if she calms a bit, might try one evening...

Snapping another rod?! What type of rod was it, Catana?

You are really giving these rods are workout!

Good to hear that the reel worked a treat Carl. I recently put new braid on a reel and had the same problems with knots and the like...not good.
Which rod broke mate don't tell me it was the custom made one???
