Had a triple hook up the other day on my whiting gear - bycatch of 2x 4.5kg snapper and a 3kg. two of them on black magic KL 1/0's and the other on Gama sz6 long shanks.

I have lost two many good fish over the years to scrimp on terminal tackle. I have found the sharper points on them help too. If you want a super sharp hook try the Daiichi 1/0s too, they are crazy sharp.

The penetrator are a light gauge hook. Compare their thickness to a same sized Gama/owner/Mustad Big Red and you'll see the difference. I've had plenty of brand new or near new Gama's snap clean in half.

Yeah they're clearly a thin gauge compared to a gama I was just more surprised to see it bend that bad on the first time I've ever used one. Uses Gama's heaps and caught bigger snapper on them and they haven't moved, might of been a dud who knows

Certainly not a once off. The thinner hooks while having better hook up rates like for like (hence the penetrator name) do have the con of possible straightening out when undergunned
