did you get a quote for an alloy version of the trailer?? and was it a big difference in price?

Yeah by quite a bit. Also more maintenance than a gal trailer. If I look after this trailer and re maintain the fittings etc it will last for a long time. Yeah nudeup. That's the other real bonus. Spare hub and bearings on the boat in the event of one letting go.
It wasn't a cheap addition but a worth while one. I was going to Jerry one up using a swing away jockey wheel frame. Mount a stub axle to it and lift it up and down as needed. Trailer guy said as soon as the tyre buries itself in the sand the frame will let go when you snatch it.
This mechanism is very simple but very strong. Worthwhile addition imo.

Thats interesting you say more maintenance on an alloy trailer. i was told the opposite loll.anyhow they are not cheap thats for sure.ducky wrote:Yeah by quite a bit. regular washdown after salt use is as good as regular maintenance can get.
