hahaha a bit gun shy after what I put the 323 through?Basti wrote:The issue is not where you can take it, it's whether you can get back out again lol. i've done some silly things in mine too. No floor mats in mine because i needed to use them as traction aids to get her out of a mudfilled pothole. front bumper and underbody splash guards mostly held on by cableties due to bottoming out multiple times. Have lost spark to 4 burnt out plugs halfway through the black spur. suspension is currently in jack in a box mode after 300k kms of pain. list goes on.4liters wrote:you would be surprised how many places you can take a corollaBasti wrote:I'm having a similar dilemma atm. My current beater is on its last legs and I have to decide whether I want something nice to drive or something that can get into places you can't take a corolla.
I got some hilarious looks from 4wd drivers as they rounded a bend on some goat track and saw my little 1988 hatchback rattling towards them

Ahhh the black spur.... brings back some memories of chasing down some old farts with a deathwish in my MR2 turbo.. what made it worse was they were driving non turbo models and i couldn't keep up with them in my turbo. They certainly didn't give 2 *****....
Anyway in regards to purchasing a newer vehicle. Think about wether you will be buying a boat in the future or towing a trailer. . Plenty of people get caught out with the tow vehicle not being suitable and then have to upgrade making the exercise even more costlier. ..
A diesel 4x4 wagon is a good choice for camping / sleepovers and long distance towing.

Haha the spur is actually scarier in my rolla than it ever was in my old r33. My favourite bit of road is actually the run up Mt Buller in the summer. Chasing two Rb25/30 gtst monsters up that mountain was one of the more memorable experiences I've had. Catch them on the bends but they'd just walk away from you like you're sitting still on any straightpurple5ive wrote:Ahhh the black spur.... brings back some memories of chasing down some old farts with a deathwish in my MR2 turbo.. what made it worse was they were driving non turbo models and i couldn't keep up with them in my turbo. yes shitty suspension never helped when doing those kind of runs..Basti wrote:Haha the spur is actually scarier in my rolla than it ever was in my old r33. ive never been on the buller roads, just done the spur and few others. nothing can really help when you have wet roads, shitty tyres (or brand spankers like i had in that situation that were just starting to tread) and people (insert old farts with death wishes, club seceretary of the mr2 club lol) who didnt give a flying fcuk and took every corner like it was his last.
good old days, i sure miss that car. but it kinda replaced itself with the boat so i cant really complain

Re: Show us your purchases!
Missed these last time they were on sale at Aldi but snagged one today. Don't go overnight hiking enough to warrant the $100+ brand name models, but at $30 it's an easy decision to make. Now to sit in the cupboard until early next year!
