Is a 100 size bait cast ok for cod? What weight rod would be best?

I used to use a callisto 100 on a 4-8kg 5'6" ugly stik.
Have since upgraded to the Cod Raider, which is 6 - 10kg and a Curado 200.

If that's any help.

Those are actually the sizes and rod weights I'm considering actually, what are your thoughts on them if you don't mind? What made you decide to upgrade? Is the 4-8kg and 100 size reel a bit under powered?

lexa 100 on 5-6kg ugly stik with 30lb braid covers a lot of my bases.

Nah, it was just old and I wanted something that was a bit easier to throw lighter lures etc(and I like to waste money on un needed fishing gear)
Mind you it did hook an 80+cm Cod on the troll and handled it ok.

the 200s are usually a physically bigger reel so may balance heavier rods better. the drag capability seems to be pretty much the same across the board. a 100 size reel would have the line cap to handle any cod i reckon. they don't run very far. your main issue would be the braking systems having to deal with the bigger cod lures, though i don't know if that's really an issue.

also, get a slow ratio reel. i've got a curado hg and wish i'd gotten the pg
