I did a charter once years ago with mark rushton of bellarine fishing charters he was great very informative learnt heaps just 3 of us not the normal charter boat I see 20 blokes shoulder to shoulder fighting for the back corners. As tuna tube said if he is not using berley you can only chance on a fish this time of the year they are roaming in schools not holding in one place

I also think some charters got locked into one thing bait, but this doesn't always work you have to change things mix it up shallow, deep, vibes, soft plastics, hard bodies. Some days it is hard work but rarely have we not come home with a decent feed of something. When a charter takes your money he should put you onto some fish unless you are targetting a specific species ie king fish , marlin , tuna or mulloway.

Did 2 charters with the same charter company, first charter was a snapper charter out of Patterson River and they sounded out spots and put us onto the fish and everyone on the boat bagged out. Result was a boat load of happy customers.

2nd charter was a whiting charter out of Hastings and once again they moved spots and berlied hard to put us on the fish but only a handful of whiting hit the deck.

Whilst they worked hard for the fish it was a little disheartening that the skipper and the decky took the prime fishing positions at the back of the boat and landed 90% of the fish for the day whilst the paying customers were relegated to the side positions and caught nothing. Even when customers asked if they could fish the back of the boat it was ignored.

Sort of puts a downer on the day

Hi Baldman,
I'm not sure we are talking about the same Charter operator, but it seems other fishos have the same issue with various operators.
Cheers,
Bodz.
