The instructor held my arm and moved it in the correct rhythm to show me what I should have been doing. Basically in about a minute my casting improved ten fold.
Bugeater would you saying going to the YVFFC on a sunday morning when they have the casting tuition is good too? they have it on every sunday 10am-12noon...been tempted to go
one of the blokes @ Angling vic that does alot of flyfishing actually works at the dealership next to mine (same parent company) so ive spoken to him abit but kinda hard to get a fly lesson off him at work lol

I dunno, maybe. You probably just have to work out who the instructors are and ask for some help I guess. Getting the timing right really helped me and it didn't take long. After that it is practise and gradually trying new things. Learning about casting arcs and that sort of thing helps too. The video "casts that catch fish" covers some of this and I think parts of it are available for free online.

yeah ive watched a few videos, i think a big issue is my arm is abit too sloppy.. but aparently you just rock up at lillydale lake near the clubrooms and they have casting lessons... if not i guess ill just fish near them and they will see how unco i am at it and offer help LOL!
i think though an instructor is the best option, will take so much longer learning by videos i think.

Show a 100lb carp whose boss with a fly rod, that is something I;d like to see :icon_lolz: :bounce: :haha2: :haha2: :tease:

Hooking carp with a fly rod is the easy part, the hard part is actually stopping them from spooling you, and the hardiest part is actually landing a decent sized one.

More often the carp wins

Whilst there are some 'large' models in the channels, a lot of the ones I see on the surface are only 2 or 3 pound fish. Also in my favour is the fact there are few, if no snags in the channels. I can wait until the carp dies of old age if I need. :-D
thanks

I did a fly fishing course with pro angler, they do it a trout farm in noojee so after you have mastered the casting you get into some fish in their challenge pond!

I suck big time at it, didn't come naturally to me especially after doing surf spinning. lol
