Apparently they stocked it with both browns and rainbow yearling this time round, although I don't know what the numbers actually were.
So long as one or two find their way to my hook, or at the least my girls hooks.
We catch and release so it will give someone else a chance after us , we are happy to share :)

ive heard that there was 50 larger brown trout put in there at the start of the year, the guy at BCF said that the fly fishing club there sponsored that.

I can't find any up to date info but this was for last year. The 'largish' (1.8kg) Browns get a mention. The info seems to be spread over the entire link as well (ie in more than one section) They do stock both varieties in lakes. We seemed to miss out on the Browns here, not that it really concerns me. They are stocking Murray Cod here now! (I'm not that interested anyway but prefer natives I guess)
thanks
Jim

ah yeah, states 900 x 27g brown trout and 50 x 1.4kg and 50 x 1.8kg brown trout...
ive known there were brown trout in Olinda creek, both upstream and downsteam of the lake so id imagine some might end up in there from the creek aswell?
ive messaged DPI on facebook with regards to trout stockings for Lilydale along with rowville, karkarook and devilbend

Strange thing is, I can not find any DPI stockings of donuts. :D So these 'donuts' that you people catch must be part of a wild self-sustaining population of donuts!
thanks

I have heard the same thing only 50 were realised into lilydale but not sure about it being done by the fly club ..I got told that late last year month later I caught 4 3.5-4 pound browns in an hour best day I've had ther so many days ther without even a bite so many days ..
I was actually ther today only lure fished if I knew it had been stocked I woulda taken my fly rod down probly better chance.. didn't see any jump thow today... is it on DPI site saying its stocked?

where abouts do you usually fish for the trout at the lake? ive got myself a fly rod too, might go down either tomorrow or monday for a fish with flies or lures.

best to go with lures or powerbait? and powerbait just under a float as simple as that aye? running float or fixed float for certain depths
