Re: Lilydale lake serves up donuts
We tend to walk right around the lake, flicking lures as we go. In a couple of spots we throw out a line with powerbait as well.
Shore line is a little over 2kms so it makes a good walk.
Still planning to go tomorrow, not sure when, fingers crossed we can get a couple of trout on the line.

Re: Lilydale lake serves up donuts
Decided to try the morning this time on the lake. Tried worms, corn and power bait. On the bottom and under float. Even ventured up the creek a bit to try there.
End result was a bit fat zero. Not even a bite.
Planning to try again this Friday, but if that also results in zeros it will be time to head back to the yarra

I love where the creek runs into the lake if no ones ther but most of the time ther is.. hmmm I'm thinking of taking my fly ther now aswell but just don't know if I want to waste time there can be doing more important stuff like mowing the lawns :/sasquatch972 wrote:where abouts do you usually fish for the trout at the lake? ive got myself a fly rod too, might go down either tomorrow or monday for a fish with flies or lures.

Re: Lilydale lake serves up donuts
just got back, was fishing up the left side of the lake, towards the back.
no luck...saw a cormorant there getting plenty of fish, about 5-6inches in size so im guessing they are possibly fingerling trout...
and also saw a few decent sized fish jump, in the range of about 25-30cm but they were out towards the middle of the lake...
was using mainly SP's for reddies but then switched over to a pink tassie devil. decided i cbf using the fly gear it was abit too windy...might head back during the week in the morning some time.

Ditto. Sounds like the spot where I was. No luck for me too. There were heaps of people walking around and the car park was full. Gonna try rowville nowsasquatch972 wrote:just got back, was fishing up the left side of the lake, towards the back.
