Lilydale hasnt been giving me much luck lately but i know some decent sized carp have been taken there recently..
Karkarook will get u the odd redfin and trout, i got a redfin 2 weeks ago at rowville and there may still be some trout lurking around, along with plenty of carp on bait.

might be better off using scrubworms on a running sinker rig and u will have a good chance at some carp in lilydale..
rowville has been abit slow fishing so its prob not worth it unless you are close, i just go there as its 5min drive from me.. give the big lake a go first, the front lake doesnt get stocked but does have reddies and carp in there and some overflow trout maybe, the small back lake and the big lake get stocked.
goodluck mate and let us know how you go.

Relatively easy lakes for the kid to catch carp would be belgrave lake park(old monbulk reservoir) they call it in the melways, you can park right beside the lake, or the arboretum off Dorset rd, Burwood hwy end. Or Birdsland reserve tecoma little bit of a walk, Carp,Roach and Redfin.
