Karkarook today
went down to karkarook fished from around 2 until dark...
ended up landing 20 small rainbow trout.... all very small around 20cm , my mate managed to land 9
all released of course.. few others there but saw them get maybe 1 or 2 on bait, We were using Hard body lures.

Re: Karkarook today
was originally using a Rapala CD-3 with size 10 daiichi hooks but one of the fish swallowed it too far and bled too much for my liking so i started using a CD-5 with size 8 single lure hooks and the barbs depressed...worked much better... did lose a few thought but would rather lose them than kill a fish for no reason.ducky wrote:Good to see mate. What were you throwing?

Re: Karkarook today
hi rod bender, thanks! was a PB in terms of numbers but to my knowledge it was just stocked... my hope is just that atleast 50% of the fish can survive and grow to a couple of kilos.....like the one my mate caught 2 weeks ago down there.Rod Bender wrote:Well done! i was using a 'silver' pattern, the red nose, dark silver ontop and light silver under... but im sure any rapalas or similar lures would be highly successful there also.

Re: Karkarook today
Good work mate.
This might be my chance to land a fresh water fish lol. Do you have to go to a particular spot there. I've never fished in any freshwater places lol
Cheers
