it just depends what they are doing. when I first went, they were taking bread off the surface, but you spend most of the time fighting off ducks. the next day, none at the surface, but they were taking corn from the bottom.

Well.. sort of a lure , 'Dry Flies' !, go for a small flying white ant pattern ( almost looks like a small white fluffy piece of bread ). Works great on Carp, but more usually during the summer/hot days when they mainly surface feed.

Bit of true info, they actually come to the surface more for air than food due to low oxygen levels in lakes etc during summer !!, especially in heavily polluted carp waters. I used to own a few Koi Carp and they respond exactly the same.

You don't always need a fly rod to use flies ! , use light enough line and gear and you can cast them out a fair distance. ;)

Cheers , Rick.

Mate ive had them take just a hook! No sinker, no bait! just flick the hook on the surface and flick it, and if they are at the surface and hungry, chances are they will take it

I have a question for you guys catching all the carp, what do you do with them afterwards? I know you're not allowed to throw them back, and they're not the best eating fish in the world, so how do you dispose of them afterwards?

Have you got any pets Jacob?

My father in law fillets his carp and feeds them to the cats, he will then use the carcass in his shrimp nets/cray pots
