HI,

I recently purchased 5 old Jarvis Walker rods, most in half decent nick, needing a few bits and new wraps, seem to have it sorted but just have a few questions to get the restorations looking authentic.

3x Black Queens look ok, just wanted to see if anyone new what color thread the bottom wrap is supposed to be?

1x Erskine Deluxe, same issue.

1 other rod not sure what it is, med green blank, with the double coil guides, red wraps, small cork fore, and wooden but approx 10". I was thinking maybe "the clarence", if anyone has a pic i would like to compare.

Have you tried searching google images?

Yep have done image searches can see the colours but need to reward so trying to get the colour code. As for the Clarence I can't find a clear pic.

Posting some pics of the rods might help in identifying the colours.

Some of the old colours can be hard to get.In Dave's pic that olive coloured thread looks like what was used on some of the old cane rods some of which I have restored. The closest match I have is Gudebrod 'insect green' which I can loan you a spool of which you can check and use. Make sure to use a filler to preserve the colour.

Ok maybe if I put this picture up, its the green one, so definitely not the clarence, I have heaps of gudebrod thread probably too many, I think I have something in similiar colour, Gudebrod Olive 1892, but not required for my rod as you will see. That bottom thread on the black queens seems trouble.

Also came in purple rod bag, but name scratched off from what I can read its "SANS SCOXXX"or something label was have ripped off.

The one with the label scratched of will be a Sans Souci, the green one can be a Clarence, I've seen them on ebay that colour, cheers davo

I only just noticed that it is green Jarvis Walker solid fibreglass rod, called a Clarence! It would have been a good blackie rod in its day too! Must have picked it up in a garage sale, I reckon! cheers davo

Well the one on the left had erskine deluxe in what was left of the label, the 3 other black ones have black queen labels on them.

To be honest I saw a green clarence on ebay too, about 8ft long. Thanks for the help guys, in anyone has more please add posts.

When you say you restore them what do you do? I have an old rod Id like to get restored. Damaged/flaky clear coat on it.
