It's a pretty sad looking rod building forum on this site (3 threads), so I thought I'd try and get some heartbeat into it. Hope others can start to contribute to!
Here's a couple of Calstar 37kg and 24kg fully rollered game rods that I've just finished.

Great looking workmanship but I hardly have enough time to tie rigs And keep the boat up to scratch. I take it with the bent butt you have a game chair on your boat.

Re: Rod Building - Is there a heartbeat?
very nice rods
my dad use to make them a few years back but only a few people have the money to pay for quality, some people just buy the cheaper stuff and not worry about the quality.
you can use a bent butt as stand up gear these days
my mate tried it when chasing marlin at bermagui a few months back

Smiles was on the money - they're both designed for standup game. Bent butts can give you a leverage advantage but you've got to have a decent harness setup and technique, otherwise they can be quite cumbersome.Nude up wrote:Great looking workmanship but I hardly have enough time to tie rigs And keep the boat up to scratch. And hangsta, I agree about the lack of rod building supplies at the local tackle shops, but there are plenty of local and overseas online shops that sell pretty much everything you need. The only problem is that you don't get to try-before-you-buy, but that just adds to the excitement!
