Weekend at Greencape

Post by DougieK » Mon Mar 20, 2017 10:56 am

Just spent a wet and windy weekend at Greencape. The forecast was good early in the week then changed the day before I left. Had I not been desperate to get out of Melbourne for a while probably would have pulled the pin.

My usual spot was 'a bit rough'....

and not being a complete moron I chose not to try and fish there. Instead was relegated to spinning one of the protected bays you can drop into. A recent storm seems to have removed the beach I like to fish off so it was a little ledge session instead.

Image

The place, as always, is stunning. This one faces away from the swell and was relatively easy spinning.

Some acceptable salmon considering it looked like a bust on arrival.

It rained most of the time and was simply too dangerous to fish any of the ledges there. Until next time I think the sign at a cafe at Mallacoota I stopped at on the way home sums up the experience nicely....

Thanks for the report Dogie. Pity about the weather while you were up there.

Great spot that Dougie, well done, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

you'll pull a decent fish out of there one day, and the dozens of empty handed trips will be all worth while

I'd suggest going further north. It's been more than half a decade since anyone has got a Tuna at Greencape and in the 29 days i've spent there since december 2015 I haven't seen a kingfish landed.
