Fishing and bush camping Kosciuszko National Park

Hey all,
Planning on heading up through kosciuszko NP after Christmas. Never been that way but hoping to get onto some nice trout.
Does anyone have info on the free remote or bush camping situation around there? Can you pull up and camp by the river in many spots or is it only camping within designated campgrounds?
The current route is basically Khancoban, Thredbo, Jindabyne area, Eucumbene river area. But more than open to any suggestions! Any info would be amazing as it kinda throws a big spanner if we’re going to get fined camping remotely.
