Worst bermi trip ever :(

Post by scott__henning » Sun Mar 02, 2014 4:23 pm

Headed up to bermi last friday (22nd) for a week. day one went out to montague with reports of firing kingies. Not a peep, no one caught anything and no kingies back at the ramp.

Put the boat back on the trailer, took plugs out and proceeded to watch half the ocean pour out of the bilge :???:
A quick look under the hull alerted us to the 1.5m crack running along the hull Bangg

So that put us out of contention for offshore fishing for the week, I just bought a new 24kg outfit hoping to get onto my first marlin, but it didnt even get wet.

Day 2 we went up the bermi river on land for a soft plastic flick for 0 fish in 3 hours, and when we got back to the car we somehow managed to lock the keys in the car. Being a BMW its very difficult to break into, and we had to walk all the way back into town just to ring bmw roadside assist. (phone/wallet/apartment key was in the car :S) 3 hours later some bloke from eden finally got there to get into the car.

the rest of the week was a mix of surf fishing and river fishing with almost zero success, very disappointing trip and very much looking forward to getting a new boat haha.

makes it worse that throughout the week all we were hearing about was the hot marlin bite, and the plentiful kingies out at montague. surely i've used up all my bad luck for the year?

Hey.....it happens to everyone.

Did she take a big bank getting out of the bar?

Is your boat fiberglass or aluminum?

I would like to see a pic of the crack.

She's a fiberglass Seafarer Victory 5.9 bout 20 years old. No real heavy bumps, didn't hit anything (we think).

After taking to the local fiberglass bloke he seems to think that the crack may have been there for a while but it only just fully opened. Possibly due to the flex in the hull because of the rotted sub floor that we re-did 3-4 years ago. hopefully now that there is solid structure in there again there will be no more cracks pop up, damn expensive!

With all planning over the trip and stuff u must be shatterd, well on the upside u made it home safe , even tho u had a half the ocean in your boat.
To many boats kayak, helicopter , catch a fish, catch a fish
