Three hook ups in just on an hours fishing...

** Only a short report this time..

Three hook ups in just on an hours fishing. 25-8-17

Got a little bored this afternoon so went for a drive to check out the Mersey River in the lower reaches at Merseylea in very dull & heavy overcast conditions with light drizzle. The river was still running reasonably high and fast to what I like so I could only wade up to a meter out from the river bank. I ventured around five hundred meters downstream from the new Merseylea bridge, then had a short walk back along the river bank where I managed three hook ups for just the one solid 550 gram brown. The other two tossed the spinner after a few leaps from the river, bit of fun for around an hour. Was lucky too because the brown in the photo some how managed to unclip my snap swivel once in the net, didn't notice that until I went to release the fish.... It lived for another day too, like they all do, good to see the new model Mepps Aglia-e still sucks them in too.. The main reason the session only lasted for an hour was because my lower back and hips became very sore and it wasn't worth fishing on and making them any worse than what they were.
Still plenty of water at Merseylea. 25-8-17 (Medium).JPG
Still plenty of water coming down, trout hooked and lost here..
Very dull conditions at Merseylea. 25-8-17 (Medium).JPG
Very dull conditions, trout caught in the stretch of water..
New model Mepps Aglia-e & brown trout, Mersey River. 25-8-17 (Medium).JPG
Only trout caught & released this trip..
Beautiful wild brown trout, Mersey River, Merseylea.. 25-8-17 (Medium).JPG
Aglia-e did the job in catching this solid brown.. Have this a my screen saver too..
cheers

Thanks guys, yes BM it is because we had a little overnight rain and a few smaller stream that are running dirty flow into the Mersey River around a kilometer further upstream..
