Upper Mersey, low on trout stocks.

Post by meppstas » Sat Mar 30, 2019 3:06 pm

** Very short report, ticked off with the lack of trout in the Mersey River this season..

Had a few hours in the river a few days ago chasing trout that started off in foggy conditions, pretty poor time with very few trout spotted over 1.5 kms. Was lucky enough to catch & release 2 browns & a rainbow, I thought the upper reaches of the river would have fished better than it did.. Won't be rushing back there any time soon that's for sure. Not very impressed how the state is being over run by blackberry bushes that are running rampant now days, getting worse every year with nothing being done about it..

Good report Adrian, blackberries are rampant everywhere but government agencies don’t seem too say anything unless they are on private property, then they hassle you to get rid of them, cheers davo.
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Couple browns in a pool is considered great in some of the streams here in Vic!
Reached 500+ yet?

Nice vid, nice report, as always. I will have enough info when I go to Tas one day in the future.

Glad you enjoyed the video, even though there wasn't a lot to go on it, still shows the areas I fish which is some consolation..
