Noosa 2014

Post by TrevKing » Fri Jul 11, 2014 8:02 pm

Hey everyone, at this time of year every year my family and I spend 10 days up at Noosa - and with great weather and good fishing, it's always an enjoyable trip. :sun:

Here's a quick report of the fish I caught this year -

BEACH FISHING - I caught plenty of fish off the beach by simply wading out to waist deep water and sight casting at fish attracted by berley (bread).
Catches included bream, whiting, dart and garfish.

ROCK FISHING: Fishing off the main beach rock groyne was awesome fun. Bream, whiting, dart and garfish were plentiful. Only problem was that I got busted off about 5 times by stonker bream that took me into the rocks. Probably serves me right for using 6lb mono. :doh1:

RIVER FISHING: As usual, small bream were around in the thousands - but they still made some fun sessions fishing with my little sister. Also some smallish flatties caught.
The highlight of river fishing this year was some nice little trevally I got on to flicking savage gear shrimp soft plastics at dawn.

OFFSHORE FISHING: After 5 or so years of going on these offshore fishing charters, this one was easily the quietest yet. About 6 fish were caught over 5 hours, 4 of which me and dad caught. Dad got 2 tomato cod and 2 red throat emperors, all undersize. I caught 1 collared sea bream which fought well and tasted nice.

Overall, a really enjoyable trip. Although no fish really had any size to them they all fought hard on light gear and I'm satisfied with that.
All fish were released except for some whiting and garfish.

Thanks for reading :victory:

Sounds like a great trip, it's a shame about the charter but what can you do.
